Now Hiring Teachers!

Fox and Fionn’s Forest School – Canton, Georgia

🌲

We believe that childhood should be full of wonder, movement, imagination, and meaningful connection with the natural world. Our program is rooted in nature-based education, Waldorf rhythms, Montessori independence, Reggio creativity, and the science of Flowβ€”supporting children in developing deep focus, confidence, resilience, and joy.

We’re seeking a teacher who embodies these values and feels called to guide young children (ages 3–6) in a beautiful outdoor, child-led, play-rich environment.

What we're looking for in a forest school teacher

Who "You" Are

You are someone who lights up outdoorsβ€”someone who feels at home among trees, seasons, stories, and natural rhythms. You value childhood as a sacred and important time and understand that deep learning happens through movement, hands-on exploration, and imaginative play.

You are warm, grounded, patient, and genuinely joyful around children. You can hold calm, consistent boundaries while honoring each child’s unique voice, temperament, and developmental stage.

You believe in small ratios, connection over control, and offering a gentle, respectful, attuned presence. You are comfortable supporting emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and cooperation without shame, punishment, or rewards.

Teaching Style

We’re looking for someone who naturally:

  • Fosters Flow β€” protects long stretches of uninterrupted play and follows children’s deep interests.
  • Values the outdoors β€” embraces mud, weather, curiosity, and the dynamic environment of the forest.
  • Guides through modeling β€” demonstrates kindness, conflict resolution, and problem-solving through example.
  • Creates meaningful experiences β€” storytelling, nature crafts, seasonal rhythms, puppetry, music, movement, and hands-on learning.
  • Encourages independence β€” supports children as capable contributors (carrying, helping, tidying, preparing materials, etc.).
  • Embraces project-based learning β€” expands on children’s ideas and notices opportunities for emergent curriculum.
  • Practices positive discipline β€” uses connection, co-regulation, and empathyβ€”not rewards or punishments.

Your Role

As our Forest School Teacher, you will:

  • Co-create daily rhythms that are predictable, warm, and developmentally aligned
  • Support child-led play while offering rich invitations to explore and discover
  • Integrate simple storytelling, nature crafts, movement, songs, puppetry, and imaginative elements
  • Encourage healthy risk-taking (climbing, balancing, building, problem-solving)
  • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all children
  • Build trusting, meaningful relationships with families
  • Bring a sense of magic, joy, and reverence to the natural world
  • Your role is teacher, teammate, contributor to the physical environment (think of us as a homestead in terms of activity level), and a nature enthusiast and participant yourself.

Values

What We Value

  • Inspiring interests and genuine learning
  • Nature-based education
  • Waldorf-inspired storytelling, rhythm, and imagination
  • Montessori respect for the child
  • Reggio philosophy of curiosity and co-learning
  • Positive psychology principles of Flow
  • Outdoor learning in all seasons
  • Low-tox, nutrient-dense nourishment for developing bodies and minds
  • A small, intentional, loving community

Experience

Experience & Background (Flexible)

We care more about your heart for this work than a perfect rΓ©sumΓ©. However, candidates with any of the following will be strongly considered:

  • Forest School experience or training
  • Waldorf/Montessori/Reggio familiarity or background
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • While a degree is preferred, enthusiasm is essential - will also enthusiastically consider an expert in a field who would love to impart this wisdom!
  • Outdoor/survival skills, gardening, or nature crafts
  • Storytelling, puppetry, music, art, or handwork
  • Experience working with children ages 3-6 in a school, camp, or other group setting.
  • Deep appreciation for and connection to nature.
  • A commitment to continual personal growth and learning.

Who Should Apply

If you are someone who believes that childhood should be slow, magical, sensory-rich, and rooted in the natural world… If you love guiding young children with presence, wonder, creativity, and patience… If you want to be part of a small, deeply intentional community…

We would love to meet you!
